Angry Birds - Review

If I want to show people what the future of mobile gaming looks like, I'll show them the success story that is Angry Birds. For the sale price of 99 cents or free if you're on Android you get this quirky little puzzle game about flightless birds who attack pigs via a slingshot for stealing their eggs. The pigs are hidden in wooden, metal or glass houses and the birds success all depends on your measure of trajectory and power. Similiar to many physics based artillery games in action, but Angry Birds outweighs them all in personality.

Angry Birds is a substantial game with a host of birds you may use to attack the egg stealing pigs. from the red cannonballer to the yellow dive-bomber and the the tiniest of blue birds who separate to cause maximum damage when you tap them mid-flight. The key to getting all three stars is in deploying the right bird at the right time.

The games formula seems simple, but is increasingly attractive when you factor in  its precise controls, intriguing puzzle design and excellent soundtrack. Addictive is a word.

With over 50 million downloads across all platforms, the game has been called "one of the most mainstream games out right now" and "one of the great runaway hits of 2010". While it doesn't exactly stake out new territory, the game play is part of a running trend in most App Stores at the moment, and is a title that seems to push the trend further. but Angry Birds does what all great games do, let you have fun.

Beyond this, Angry Birds is fast becoming the gaming success story of all time. growing from being a simple game in the app-store, its crossing paths with every gaming console out there from the PC to the Xbox 360. Along with TV deals in the making and collaborations with Production companies for movie tie in games such as Rio, Angry Birds looks to be developing a following and a level of stardom that few programmers would ever hope to even recognise. Get it now before it gets bigger than anything that's come before it. Oh and buy a toy, apart from being incredibly cute, no thats all there is to it, they're just incredibly cute. Get em here
